Frequently asked questions about the Strong Password Generator

How is the password generated?

The tool uses your browser’s cryptographic random generator, not a simple random function. Each password is created on your device when you click Generate.

What makes a password strong?

Length matters most, followed by a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols. The tool shows an entropy estimate in bits: a longer password from a larger character set has higher entropy.

Are my passwords stored?

No. Generated passwords are shown only in this browser session, in the recent-passwords list on the page. They are not uploaded, saved to an account, or stored after you close the page.

What length should I choose?

At least 12 to 16 characters for most accounts, and longer where a site allows it. Use a different password for every account, ideally in a password manager.
